Gardens

The collective gardens we run are sites of agro-ecological knowledge and skill-sharing, neighbourhood revitalization, and social engagement. Our volunteers, community members, and paid Farmer work together to plant, cultivate, and harvest a wonderful variety of delicious vegetables.

We have three urban locations.

  1. Our original Community Harvest Garden, located in Kingscourt neighbourhood on the Dutch Heritage Villa Seniors’ Centre front yard, is 6000 square feet and has been operational for more than 10 years (4800 sq ft originally, expanded to 6000 sq ft in 2022).
  2. Our Tasting Garden, located in Rideau Heights neighbourhood at the new Shannon Park, is composed of 6 large raised beds (16 feet in length). Look out for signs that say ‘Harvest Me’ to help yourself to some veggies; if it says ‘Let Me Grow’, please wait and come back a few weeks later!
  3. Our newest garden is located at the Calvin Park Branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library. This garden will consist of 16 raised beds, ranging in length from 10-45 feet! This huge endeavour has been made possible thanks to CFKA‘s generous grant!
